1st Armored Division, 1992 (Source: Signal Corps) On January 16, 1992, the 1st Armored Division ended its 12-year presence in Ansbach in a bittersweet ceremony held at the division's home station at Hindenburg Kaserne. The following day the 8th Infantry Division in Bad Kreuznach would be reflagged as the 1st Armored Division, thus ending the "Pathfinder" Division's 35 years of service in Germany.
